Players of Bangladesh and Pakistan observed a minute silence before their match in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 on Wednesday at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore in order to pay tribute to former Zimbabwe all-rounder Heath Streak, who recently passed away.

Streak died, aged 49, on Sunday after suffering from advanced colon and liver cancer. He was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Streak is survived by his wife, Nadine, and four children.

The all-rounder bagged 216 wickets and scored 1,990 runs in 65 Tests between 1993-2005. He also featured in 189 one-day internationals, scoring 2,943 runs and claiming 239 wickets.

After bringing the curtain down on his career, Streak served as the head coach of Bangladesh while also serving as the bowling coach of twice Indian Premier League champions Kolkata Knight Riders.

In 2021, he was banned for eight years from all forms of cricket after admitting breaches of the International Cricket Council's anti-corruption code. He took "full responsibility" for his actions but said he was never involved in any attempts to fix matches.

Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat against Pakistan in the first Super 4 match during the ongoing Asia Cup 2023.

Both teams have made one change in their lineup for today's crucial match. Pakistan have replaced Mohammad Nawaz with Faheem Ashraf, meanwhile Litton Das comes in place of the injured Najmul Hossain Shanto for Bangladesh.

Pakistan and India qualified from Group A, meanwhile, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka booked place in the Asia Cup Super 4 from Group B.

During the group stage, Pakistan defeated Nepal by 238 runs in their first match but their second fixture against India was washed out.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, lost to Sri Lanka in their first match by five wickets but bounced back to beat Afghanistan by 89 runs to secure their place in the next round.
